If you have any intention of selling your business one day this may be of interest to you.
A colleague told me recently that the average non systemised small business sells for a multiple of 2.2 times operating profit while the average systemised small business sells for just over 6.8 times profit.
That’s real food for thought if you would like to sell your business at some point. Think about it this way. Would you rather buy a business like McDonalds where processes are in place for everything from recruitment to customer service to food preparation to marketing, or, would you prefer to buy a restaurant that is just as profitable but all of the operational, sales and financial knowledge is in head of the team and owner of the business?
Not only will a properly systemised business help you be more efficient, consistent and robust, it will also yield 3 times more value!
Sounds like a no brainer to me.
