How to improve your recruitment process for organisational success

Every business owner needs to get recruitment right because if you don\'t you\'re going to risk of having the wrong people in your company.

One of the key things that every business owner needs to get right is recruitment, because if you don’t, you’re going to increase the chances of miss hires and you stand a high risk of having the wrong people in your company.

Here are the four things you need to focus on the next time you have an important hire to make

1. Make sure that you’re clear on what you’re looking for

Take the time to clarify the outcome you’re expecting from that role. This will help you through the next step which is outlining the skills, experience, and cultural and attitude requirements that you are looking for.

2. Have a proper, structured recruitment process

Come up with a recruitment process that really puts your candidates through a proper and rigorous assessment to make sure that they’ve got what it takes and you see evidence of their skill set for the role.

3. Do not settle

You shouldn’t settle with the best of the bad bunch. Be brave – if somebody does not shine or absolutely blow you away from your initial recruitment campaign, you have to be prepared to start again.

4. Educate yourself on recruitment

If you haven’t read books or done courses on recruitment, I advise you to begin educating yourself, otherwise it’s almost certainly going to lead to you making more unnecessary recruitment errors.

Your business deserves the best person it can find. As painful as it may be to go through the above cycle two or three times, it’s worse to have the wrong person in place. That’s it! It takes time to set up, but once you’ve done it (properly), most elements can be tweaked for future recruitment needs.
