1. Are you in overwhelm?

So many business owners feel completely overwhelmed, they’re so stuck in the day to day, they’ve got loads of demands coming at them from all directions and don’t know what to deal with first. If you feel like you’re in that space, it can be really, really challenging. Worst of all, if you don’t have the bandwidth to be able to take a step back, to keep focused on where you’re moving the business and to be able to make proper decisions to anticipate challenges, that is definitely going to hold you and your business back.

2. Do you and your business lack structure?

Does your business lack structure? If things feel chaotic, with people all over the place who are not really doing what they need to do, without clear outcomes, that is a problem. If you don’t have the right processes in place that people can follow to do the right thing in the right way at the right time consistently, then that is going to be a serious constraint as you grow. You definitely don’t want to scale chaos, that is a recipe for disaster and sleepless nights.

3. Are you operating without a quality team?

Is your business lacking a quality team? If you don’t feel like you’ve got really good, competent people around you that you can delegate to confidently to deliver specific outcomes and help you achieve your plans, then that is something that is definitely going to stop you from being able to progress your business in the future. Your business is not scalable without a good team. Your ability to bring the right people on board and to develop, manage and inspire them is absolutely critical in you being able to generate better results and probably more importantly, create a business that can grow sustainably and consistently.

4. Do you lack vision, strategy and planning?

Lack of vision, strategy and planning will lead to a lack of understanding of where your business is going. Your people need explicit detail about where you’re taking your company, otherwise, they’re going to make decisions that don’t align with what you’re thinking, and they might make decisions that are undermining the progress of the business. You need to be able to articulate clearly where the business is going and what it looks like when it gets there so that your team can be inspired and engaged in the journey. So many business owners feel like their teams aren’t fully engaged in the future of their business and that’s probably because they don’t know what the future looks like.

5. Do you need a better financial understanding?

So many businesses fly blind, they make decisions based on gut, rather than making decisions based on proper financial information and understanding. I work very, very closely with my clients to ensure that they’ve got the right dashboards, financial tools and reporting in place. That way, as they start to implement things they can see if it’s moving the needle in the right direction. When there are problems, they get an early warning system that helps them address those problems promptly so that they don’t sleepwalk into completely avoidable issues. So those are my top five indicators.
